The first thing to consider is the headline as without a great headline your article will not be read by many people. Use action words such as discover or how to and this will lead people into the headline and then into the article.

Identify a Problem

If for example you are writing about learning to play the guitar you could start with a paragraph outlining how frustrating it is to learn a song when you do not know any chords or how to put them together yet just from a songbook.

Why it is a problem

Once the problem has been addressed it is useful to explain exactly why it is a problem. Use the features and benefits idea here for maximum impact. If we use the guitar playing example we could say that not being able to play one of your favourite songs is a problem because you want to impress your girlfriend. Explain what has already been tried, again with our guitar playing example you could have tried learning from songbooks which has not worked. Or you could explain that working with a guitar teacher by paying for expensive lessons has not worked because you need more lessons but cannot afford them.

Provide a Solution

Finally you provide a place where the solution can be found. In this case you would point to a review of a guitar playing method that you have written on your blog or website which will help the reader of your article to start playing their favourite songs quickly and easily.
